Remote access on a Vents unit

Vents and Blauberg units can be reached through the manufacturer's server, which is what lets the app work away from home. It is off until you turn it on, in the unit's engineering settings, and it can only be switched there while the unit answers on the local network — turning it off through the cloud would take away the route the command travelled.

This platform's remote access is not encrypted. The unit's password crosses the internet in clear text in every message, and the unit will hand out the home's Wi-Fi key to anyone who asks with that password. That is how the platform is built, not a choice this app makes — but it is worth knowing before turning it on, and worth switching off at the unit's own panel if you never need it.
