How a filter's life is worked out

Each equipment type has a nominal service interval, each filter role multiplies it — a HEPA lasts longer than a coarse prefilter, a grease trap shorter — and your home profile stretches or shortens the result. Nothing here is a guess about your air: it is the manufacturer's interval, adjusted by how the filter is used and by how many people live behind it.
